I just had the chance to visit this blog only now. I am no wide-reader which I guess will be a difficulty when I shift to BSEd Major in English. :) So I am not so familiar with literary masterpieces back then. I scanned our Literature book and saw a title which is familiar with me because I have read it in our Filipino class. That is Bangkang Papel by Genoveva Edroza-Matute or Paper Boat in English. It was a brilliant but a tragic story on how a thing for the young and innocent, which is the paper boat, can be associated with people who went lost during the Japanese times. The lost chance for the kid to play his boats were like his youth taken away from him. Maybe the writer had also foreseen some incidents that might have happened in the future because before EDSA Revolution when Martial Law was declared (which was 20 years after the publication of the story) , there was a problem with "desaparecidos" or forced disappearance. People acting against the government were caught and they were nowhere to be found. Their families have no idea whether they are still alive or not.
